Coronavirus Staff Concert Cancellation and Safety Precautions

UPDATE – March 13, 2020.

As you are all probably aware, the school systems have decided to close down for the next two weeks beginning on Monday. We will follow suit with our rockband and kiddy keys classes. We will be issuing makeup credits and during April we will offer a few extra sessions on weekends

Our private lessons and group guitar/piano will continue via Skype/FaceTime/Zoom. For children younger than 8, we ask that a parent sit in on the online lesson to help out. Materials needed are an iPad/phone or laptop with a camera, a pen or pencil and a device stand that will show the student and their instrument. We will send out further info by Sunday evening on the exact process.

Lessons will occur during their normally scheduled time and reminder emails/texts will go out as normal.

Coronavirus has escalated rapidly in our country and Georgia sits in the top 10 states with reported cases. In light of this and recent developments as of Wednesday, March 11, Oconee Music has decided to cancel our staff recital on Saturday to avoid gathering people in a large group.

We are taking precautions to limit the spread of coronavirus and the still rampant flu virus. These include:

  1. Everyone must wash hands prior to EVERY class and lesson. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to wash hands
  2. Staff will be sanitizing all equipment used in between every student.
  3. We encourage you to wait in your car if possible to avoid having social contact with other parents. Remember, this is only for a couple of weeks as we try to prevent the spread of this disease.
  4. Group classes will be cancelled and makeup credits added to your account IF the local school systems close down. Private lessons will continue via Skype/Facetime/Zoom.
  5. If you prefer to self-quarantine yourself or your family, we are happy to offer online lessons even at this point – please let your teacher know.

Thank you for reading this – we will continue to monitor the coronavirus situation and do our best to provide music education safely. Please check our Facebook page for updates as well.
