Hoberdan Peno is a guitarist, educator, and avid chamber musician who has performed throughout South America and the United States, appearing both as a soloist with orchestras and in chamber music settings. His performances emphasize the classical guitar repertoire, with particular attention to chamber music and Brazilian works.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (Brazil) and a Master’s degree in Music Performance from Georgia State University, where he was awarded the Aileen and Chris Valianos Music Scholarship. He is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Georgia, where he also serves as a teaching assistant.
As an educator, Hoberdan is passionate about making music accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for students of all ages. He has extensive experience teaching guitar, ukulele, music theory, and music history, working with both children and adults in individual and group settings. His teaching philosophy centers on creating a friendly, welcoming, and supportive environment where students can develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
Hoberdan also has held teaching positions as a guitar, music history, and music theory instructor at the Lorenzo Fernandes Conservatory in Brazil, as a teaching assistant at Georgia State University (2019–2020), the University of Georgia (2024-present), Ukulele and Guitar teacher at GuitarShed (Atlanta-GA) and as a part-time instructor at Georgia College and State University. His honors include a prize at the 2015 Federal University of Santa Maria Winter Festival, the 2017 Best Brazilian Music Performer and Revelation prizes at the Mato Grosso Soloists Competition, the 2020 Honors Recital Competition at Georgia State University, and the 2025 UGA Symphony Concerto Competition.
