Emma Gordon

Piano, Clarinet, Ukulele

Born to two parents with music degrees, it was inevitable that Emma would pursue
music. Emma Gordon began playing piano at 5 years old after begging her parents for lessons.
She continued lessons through middle school, achieving multiple superior ratings in local and
national festivals. When given the opportunity to join the band in 6th grade, she knew before
she even tried any instruments that she wanted to play the oboe and began studying with Lisa
Sayre before the school year started!
Throughout her high school career, Emma maintained a spot as the principal oboist in
her high school band, participated in the District Honor Band, District Honor Symphony, and
All-State bands. She has also attended numerous summer music camps and festivals. She plans
to attend the Tanglewood Institute Oboe Workshop this summer. She was also a member of the
Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra, Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Metropolitan
Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble, and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.
After studying with Elizabeth Tiscione, the principal oboist in the Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra, she decided she wanted to pursue a career in music. Since arriving at the University
of Georgia, she has played in the University Symphony Orchestra and the University Wind
Ensemble. She also played a concert cycle with the Oconee Winds. She will begin her second
year as an oboe performance major at the University of Georgia in the Fall.
